Jessie is about a girl from the town of Forthood Texas who moved to New York City after high school to follow her dreams to become a star and to discover who she was. She ended up being a nanny for the Ross's when she was thrown out of a taxi cab and ended up in front of their building. Jessie Prescott- Jessie is a 20 year old Texas girl who just dreams of being in the entertainment business and making something of herself. She's not the best nanny in the world, but she's always there when the kids need her most. Jessie may be strong, but she definitely is flawed. Jessie has a human quality about her which even makes the most unrealistic situations believable. Jessie has the tendency to become jealous, annoyed and even let her ambition get in the way of her reasoning. Jessie wants to be in the entertainment business, but every time she tries to go for it, something messes it up or gets in thee way. Some of her talents include acting, singing, and playing the guitar. Back in Texas, we learned that Jessie's father was in the Marine Corps. He had Jessie's back, but they also had a strained relationship at times. Jessie stated in an episode that he didn't want Jessie to go off to New York & she has also stated that at one point, he wished Jessie was a boy until she jumped over that last hurdle. We also learned that in Texas her relationships never really moved forward. She had her heart broken many times. She likes to refer to her break up stories as lessons. Considering all the break-ups she had, she was on the fence about dating the apartment's doorman Tony. Tony is a guy with a good heart , good intentions and is very handsome, but he also isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. When Tony and Jessie first met on the street outside the Ross building, it was obvious they had crushes on one another. Jessie tries to deny this crush knowing that it could make working with each other awkward if their relationship ever lead to failure. When Jessie goes on a date with the egotistical Brody Martin who is cheating on Jessie, Tony calls him out for it and told him he doesn't deserve a girl as great as Jessie. Jessie overhearing this, dumps Brody and ends up with Tony.
Emma Ross- Emma is the 15 year old fashionista out of the Ross children. Emma is also the only biological child and she's very bubbly and sweet. Emma may be that bubbly student, but she always gives everything her all. She has a lot of motivation in her and wants to succeed any challenge she is given. Emma also has a little bit of attitude to her. This usually shows up when she's dealing with her little brothers who constantly bring her into trouble. Even though she has an attitude, she's very caring about her little sister Zuri. Zuri and Emma have tea-parties together and bond. In the first episode she was very hesitant to letting Jessie into her life because she missed her parents and preferred them toi be around. Jessie immediately sees this and tries her best to make her parents realize that they're pushing away their children. Jessie tells Emma that even though she feels discarded, that love travels over any distance and that even though her parents aren't physically with her, they are in other senses. This helps birth their friendship and move it forward. Emma also has some flaws, but who wouldn't expect that from a teenage girl? Emma usually gets pulled into the crowd and can easily be manipulated by other girls in her high school. Even though Emma is very fashionable and rich, she would never treat someone in her school poorly. She doesn't think she is better than anyone else in her school. Emma has that teenage girl quality that everyone has and she is very fanatic when it comes to celebrities. She decided to purchase Austin Moon's [From Austin & Ally] phone number and she stole his shoe. She also had dibs on one of his toes if they fell off. In the first episode of Season 1 of Jessie we discover that he is completely in love with Jessie despite her disgust. He tries flirting with her all the time even though he is constantly rejected. Luke is one of those kids who aren't the brightest, but when he puts the effort in, he can be great. Luke loves being the center attention as well. When he entered a dancing competition to help Bertram, he completely stole everyone's attention. One of his flaws is that he is constantly getting himself in trouble and tends to not listen to Jessie or any kind of adult authority. Another one would be is that his hygiene is not the greatest. Luke and his brother Ravi are very close despite their differences. When Ravi was being bullied in school, Luke puts away his popular status and defended him despite the consequences in his path. Even though they have each other's back and have a good relationship Luke usually does the brotherly thing and pulls pranks on him. Luke and Emma tend to get in fights constantly, but they love each other at the end of the day. Luke and Zuri have a strong brother and sister relationship.
Ravi K. Ross- Ravi is the middle child of the Ross family and is 13 years old. Ravi is very different from his siblings Luke and Emma. For one, he comes from India and has a 7ft long water monitor lizard named Mrs. Kipling. Originally, he thought Mrs. Kipling was a boy. He discovers Mrs. Kipling is not a boy when he found Lizard eggs on the terrace. When he finds out Mrs. Kipling is not a boy, he freaks out because they have bathed with each other before. Ravi and Kipling happen to be inseparable. Jessie and some of the other kids happen to find that creepy at times. Ravi is definitely the smartest out of the Ross kids. He is very dedicated to his school and has morals. He is the exact opposite of his older brother. Even though Luke and Ravi are different, they both love video games. One of the first things Jessie and Ravi bond over were actually video games. When Ravi was first adopted into the Ross family, Christina and Morgan Ross were expecting him to be a baby. The reason for this was because of a misunderstanding on his birth certificate. This, however, turned out not to be. When Ravi fist saw the cribs and baby toys he thought they were for his pet lizard. Ravi also has a little bit of a fanboy in him and he has a major crush on Selena Gomez. Ravi also has a high tolerance to spicy food. He could eat a dragon fire pepper without feeling that his tongue is burning off. The reason for this was because he's from a country where their mattresses are made out of nails. Ravi's three favorite people in the world happen to be the Statue of Liberty, Oscar The Grouch, & The Hulk. Even though Ravi is slowly becoming influences to American things, he loves his culture and background and is usually found wearing his clothes from back from India.

Zuri also has a good relationship with her older brother Ravi and usually warns him about Luke's pranks. Zuri and Luke have a decent relationship as well. When Luke opens up about his obsession with Kenny and how he means a lot to him because Kenny was the only thing he had when he came to the Ross house, Zuri gave Luke an eye from one of her dollies to help him fix his stuffed animal. This occurred in the episode "Quitting Cold Koala."

Bertram and Zuri have the best relationship out of all the Ross children. When Emma ditched Zuri to hang out with her friends, Bertram had a tea party with Zuri instead of Emma. Even though he has his rough spots with all the kids and Jessie, he does give them advice when they need it. He also cares about Jessie and when he discovered Brody was cheating on him he found a way for her to hear it in "The Princess and the Peabrain."
